Comparing Cape Fear 1962 to Cape Fear 1991 is to compare a middle class white family before and then after the 60's counter culture revolution.
Cape Fear 62 is a pitch perfect representation of the white family while the 91 version, Martin Scorsese's, represents a bunch of self obsessed ''individuals''. Is this perhaps a metaphor for the west in general? Like the Bowden family are we Europeans being collectively punished for becoming weak and degenerate?
