Bladerunner 2049 takes us into world owned and run by giant corporations who ceaselessly warp and break down the natural world and order to squeeze more profit out of the lonely dead souls which inhabit it. The only Beings which are capable of understanding the beauty of a snowdrop are themselves creations of the technological machine which is now hunting them down.
If that all sounds vaguely familiar it should, and we've been heading there for a long time...
